Welcome to Mechanical Engineering Department

Department of Mechanical Engineering Activities organized 2023-24

1. 3D Printing Workshop

A two-day 3D printing workshop was organized by the department on September 22-23, 2023. Resource person Mr. Rahul Yadav from the firm 3D Bazzar, Gurugram gave training to faculty members and both UG and PG students. The training was conducted on 3D printer Ultimaker S3 procurred by the department earlier under TEQIP III. The training was very well conducted where several 3D models were printed practically. 3D printing is becoming useful day by day for B.Tech and PG level research problems on computer aided design.

2. Talk by Dr Deepak Agarwal, ISRO scientist

Mechanical Engineering Department has arranged an Expert Lecture at the college level by Dr. Deepak Agarwal, Division Head, Heat Transfer Division, PRSE LPSC, ISRO Valiamala, Trivandrum (Alumini of the Department) on the topic “Indian Space Programme: A Journey of Self Reliance” on 20.10.2023.
Initially, in his lecture he has given the historical background of ISRO by narrating the different achievements made by ISRO from the beginning to till date. Dr. Deepak also explained the problems faced during Chandrayan 2 landing and how it has been rectified in Chandrayan 3. His talk covered the intricate technical details and success story of Chandrayan 3.
Next day i.e. on 21.10.2023, an interactive session was conducted with faculty and PG students of the department with Dr. Deepak. In that session Dr. Deepak explained various projects undergoing currently in ISRO. He also discussed various opportunities existing for students in ISRO.

3. Under the G-20 programme organized by the college the department of Mechanical Engineering arranged the following two lectures

1. Speaker: Dr. M.S. Karuna, Head, Department of Chemical Engineering University, M J P Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, Dated : 27.09.2023 spoke on the topic environmental regulations for sustainable growth. He covered the following areas:

  • Provision for protection of environment in constitution of India
  • Central government and state government regulations
  • Pollution related laws
  • 2. Speaker : Dr. M.S. Karuna, Head, Department of Chemical Engineering University, M J P Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, Dated : 27.09.2023 spoke on the topic environmental regulations for sustainable growth. He covered the following areas:

Harish Kumar, Faculty at Department of Chemical Engineering, M J P Rohilkhand University, Bareilly-243006, Uttar Pradesh, India spoke on “Applications of nanoparticles in biopolymer films”. The summary of his take is follows:

Indian agriculture is the world's second largest agro-based economies, and about 75% of its people depend on agriculture for their livelihood. As a result, large amounts of approximately 350 million tonnes of lignocellulosic biomass per year are available in India. The cell wall polysaccharides of lignocellulosic biomass are composed of cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin.

    4. Visit of Dr. D. P. Mehta, former faculty of Mechanical Engineering

Dr. D. P. Mehta, Emeritus Distinguished Professor and Chair Mechanical Engineering Department, Bradley University, Peoria, IL (USA), who has been a faculty member of mechanical Engineering during 1962-75 in our university. Dr. Mehta visited various labs of the department and appreciated the facilities available with the labs. He interacted with faculty members of the college and some of the alumni of our college on 21.02.2024 including Dr. R.C. S. Mehta, Dr. K.K. Singh (ex-Professors), Mr. J.C. Belwal (ex-BOM member)and Mr. Khajendra Singh. Dr. Mehta briefed about the research activities going on at Bradley University. He also visited several colleges and centers of the university and expressed his pleasure over the developmental activities going on in the university.

    5. Retirement of Dr. V K Gupta

Dr. V K Gupta one of the senior professors of the Mechanical Engineering Department retired on 31 January 2024. A farewell function was organized on this occasion at the Conference room PCT. His colleagues remembered him as a hardworking and polite person whose contributions to the department and college were immense. Dean CT concluded the event with blessings for his future.

    6. Extension Activity

Kisan Mela: The department of mechanical Engineering actively participated in Kissan Mela held during March 9 to 12 and displayed the following models which are extensively useful for the farmers. The kisan participants took keen interest in the models and appreciated the ground level work of the department. A brief about the models are as below:
